Hello everyone!

I took an extended break from blogging over a year ago, but have recently made a glad return. It's been really nice to reconnect with some old friends and I hope to make new ones as well!

Socks are done...and a question

The socks I've been slowly working on are finally done!  They are 100% alpaca and very cozy.  I'm pretty happy with them, they look nice and fit well.  The only thing I've noticed is that the second one is just slightly bigger than the first.  I think my guage was a little looser on the second.  Does anyone know if there is a way to safely shrink the left sock to match the right one?  Again, it's pretty minor, but if it's anyone has any tips, I might try to rememdy it.  Thanks everyone and take care!  -Ken

Sock Wars

Will any of you be participating in the Sock Wars over at Yarn Monkey's site?  It looks pretty fun.  A sock knitting game of speed, intrigue and, uh, 'death.'  I think I may do it.  I'm not the fastest knitter, but in the end everyone ends up with a pair of socks anyway.  Check it out and see what you think!

Clog #1

Well, it took me a while to get it finished, but here is clog number one.  I've included a before and after shot, both with the remote control (which just happened to be handy!) for perspective.  I really liked making this and can't wait to start the other.  Especially after the magic of the felting project.  This one took about 14 minutes of agitation to get to this point.  I decided to follow the instructions for a different felting project...the main differences being that I didn't put the clog in a zippered bag or anything, and I threw a pair of jeans in with it to

Knit Picks Options needles

Hi guys,

I just got my Options needles from Knit Picks and really like them.  If you want to read a summary/ review/ pictorial of them you can head over to my other blog:

And yes Chris, I will join you in the Clog-along.  Though I didn't know you were organizing anything like that, I did get the size 13 needles just for the clogs, so why not join in!

Ok Chris, I did it, I joined!

Hi guys,

My name's Ken and my partner Mark and I live up in Maine, just outside of Bangor.  As a bit of an introduction...I started knitting back in September of 2005 and have been enjoying doing so ever since.  My favorite thing to knit, so far anyway, is socks.  I've also done some hats, scarves, a few knitted toys and I'm currently tackling the faux bear skin rug that was featured in the men's issue of Knit1.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it when it's done, but I just felt the need to take on the challenge of making such an unusual project...so far, so good.  Well, I guess that's it for now.  Thanks Chris for oh so politely reminding me to get it together and join the site.  And thanks to all of you who took the time to visit my blog (http://alterknituniverse.blogspot.com/) today.  I wondered why I was getting so many hits...
