Yarn Down Under?

Gentlemen,

It's been a while since I've posted - I want to write up a longer update of my journey post-tennis elbow surgery, but for now suffice to say that I'm back to knitting and even, nine long months later, back in the pottery studio.

It's That Time Again...

Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival!

Yarn. Fiber. Lamb burgers. Fry cakes... On the inside, I am a little boy dancing on tippy toes, playing with my fingers, vibrating with excitement and anticipation of wandering through aisles and aisles of roving and dyes, spinning wheels and knitting needles, watching sheep dog trials and farm boys, I mean, livestock. I cannot wait!

Help with E Zimmerman's Seamless Sweater

Hi Guys,

Loxley

It is 3:50 am and if I could sleep I'd be in bed, but I can't so instead I thought I'd post pictures of "Loxley," my latest Stephen West project. It's a sort of scarf/hat thingy and has the unusual feature of making it's wearer look endearingly medieval (or at least it makes The Best Beloved look endearingly medieval, but he's rather medieval to begin with).

Tired of sewing in the ends?

Hey guys, I came across this video on Ravelry and shared it on Facebook's DC Men Knit page. It got such good feed back I thought I should share it here, too. It's called a "Russian Join," and while it does take a little work at the time, it eliminates the sewing in of joined yarn at the end of the project. Plus, her accent and her nails are to die for! You can find it here:

The Mother-in-law Shawl

It's wonderful to see what gifts you guys made and received! We're having a wonderful, quiet Monday here in DC. Fire in the fireplace, leftover Christmas breakfast casserole and sourdough coffee cake, and hot tea. My elbow is much better - yesterday for Christmas I got to wash up a bit and put on a new bandage. I felt like a new guy!

Turns out, it's good for you, too!

Great little piece on The Early Show about the psychological benefits of knitting. Thought you all might enjoy watching this. Please note - they even show men knitting!
