Forbes Forest

Hello Men! Here's a scarf I recently completed, and am very excited about!  Its the "Forbes Forest" pattern by Kathy Zimmerman from 'Scarf Style' (Interweave Press)

I used 6 balls of KnitPicks 'Merino Style' in the Moss colorway.  Too early for this now, but it will serve me well throughout the NYC autumn and winter months. More here.

Jarrett

Hey Guys! I wanted to share a recent sweater that i finished a few weeks ago and have been meaning to post here:

The pattern is "Jarrett" from Rowans "Vintage Knits." I used Rowanspun DK but had to rewrite the pattern to adjust for a finer guage.  The sweater is great and has knitted elbow patches and epaulets (shoulder patches).  I've posted the write up on the blog. Check it out if you want more details.

Lace Leaf Shawl

Hey guys! Wanted to share a recent creation: I knit this for my new sister-in-law.  The wedding was this weekend, and she loved it. Its knit with a lace weight cashmere/wool/alpaca blend, held double to produce a DK weight.

It was a great project and she loved it. More on the blog: brooklyntweed.blogspot.com

Keep it up.

Log Cabin Socks

Hey Guys!

Here's a pair of socks I recently completed.  Its the Log Cabin Sock pattern from Handknit Holidays by Melanie Falick.  I knit it using 2.5 balls of Rowan Cork.  Was a great project and I'm happy with the result:

Ene's Scarf

Hey Guys! Wanted to show you some photos of my most recent project.  Its a lace shawl based off of traditional Estonian Lace patterns by Nancy Bush.

I used a laceweight silk/wool blend, and i couldn't be happier with the end product.

The Urban Aran Cardigan

Hey guys!  There are great things happening out there, thanks for always keeping the site busy with new projects and inspiring topics.

Urban Aran Cardigan

I wanted to post a pic of my most recent sweater: its a heavily modified version of the Urban Aran Pullover from Paton's Street Smart.  The original pattern is written for women, but I reworked it into cardigan version that is more male-friendly.

The Secret Knitters

Okay so I recently graduated college where I spent much of my time in Gender Studies. As a male knitter, the entire needle-work-world, especially knitting has fascinated me because it is a huge pocket of society that still suffers heavily from gender suffocation (or at least in the public sphere). I've been thinking a lot about how we (KNITTIN' MEN) have a great opportunity to make a difference. While I often find myself angry and frustrated with all of those people who so stringently cling to their gender expectations (so often unconsciously), I have to remember that many of them have not had those notions challenged and disproved.

The Cash (mere)

Hey - i'm new to the crowd. Got a quick question for anyone who may know of a really quality worsted weight cashmere that isn't too insanely pricey? Anyone have any trusted brands or weights they want to share? Thanks.
