New Knitting Group in the Niagara Area

Hi.
I'm going to start a group in the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. There are many ideas under consideration, but I thought I'd ask for some feedback. Could you go to my blog and complete the poll? Thanks.

I got a MWK button badge, woo hoo!

I've attatched a picture of the first blue square to arrive from the MWK team. Thanks to John in San Francisco for this one.

Thanks also to everyone there who has embraced the Knit A River project, we're really excited and encouraged by your efforts....

spider pattern

can anyone help with a pattern for a 3D spider?

I've started to make one and it's going well but it would be great to have a pattern to compare it to.

Recruiting Effort

Do any of you guys have girl knitter friends who would be interested in joining the sister site Women Who Knit?

Surprise

I was asked on Friday if I would consider judging the knitted and crochet entries at the county fair here.

I could do it, the number of entries is not usually terribly large, and I've certainly been doing this stuff long enough. But I have no particular "professional" qualifications. I've only ever taught one class, I don't write on the subject. When I asked "Why me?" the answer was just "Because we talked it over and thought you'd be good."

The judges give written comments on every piece, which I'd be willing to do. It probably takes about half a day, and they pay you $50. (Wow.) I just keep wondering if $50 is worth getting tarred and feathered for. :)

Ok Chris, I did it, I joined!

Hi guys,

My name's Ken and my partner Mark and I live up in Maine, just outside of Bangor.  As a bit of an introduction...I started knitting back in September of 2005 and have been enjoying doing so ever since.  My favorite thing to knit, so far anyway, is socks.  I've also done some hats, scarves, a few knitted toys and I'm currently tackling the faux bear skin rug that was featured in the men's issue of Knit1.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it when it's done, but I just felt the need to take on the challenge of making such an unusual project...so far, so good.  Well, I guess that's it for now.  Thanks Chris for oh so politely reminding me to get it together and join the site.  And thanks to all of you who took the time to visit my blog (http://alterknituniverse.blogspot.com/) today.  I wondered why I was getting so many hits...

Hey Boys,

I have been trying to get Ken in Maine to join the group for weeks now.  He's been thinking about it but never gets around to it.  (like me finishing that 3yo sweater).

My proposal is that those who want to, visit his blog http://alterknituniverse.blogspot.com/  leave a comment and casually invite him.  He really would be a good member to have around.

(this sounds like rush week)
