This is the Fiber Factor

I'm sorry that I didn't include a link...LOL. It didn't occur to me until late last evening that I should have. It's a contest like American Idol for knitters and I'm finding it very interesting and I thought that you might too! http://youtu.be/xZLMeI7TOtI
This is Challenge #1. They are now on challenge #2

Turkey / Istanbul / Protests etc.

Hi all,

A few people have written privately asking about Turkey and if I'm safe. I thought I'd do a blog post so you can all see it.

First, I was in the US for most of the unrest. I went on May 16 to deal with some issues with my mom, and a week or so later all hell broke loose. I think trying to follow it from outside the country was worse than being here would have been.

Jaywalkers

The recent jaywalker posts inspired me, so I looked through my stash and found a skein that had looked nice on the shelf but failed to inspire when I actually started knitting it. Now I realize all it needed was some zigzag to wake it up. :)

Time for Blocking

Finally, the last stitch has been knit in my sweater. Now to block it so the 6x1 rib throughout the sweater is a bit more prominent. Then the zipper goes in. I learned so much from this project. I changed the wrists from an i-cord bind off to a 3" rib stitch simply because I prefer it. I do like the i-cord bind off for the bottom.

Carbon dps

I just purchased a set of carbon dps. made by buckthorne. I was a bit bit skeptical at first i have become to love my bamboo. but now knitting socks at a pair every two weeks has taken a toll on my needles. Working with rosewood helped but still on 0 i find a "bend" (on the bamboo i guess i hold on pretty tight and they snap like twigs" so decided to try ebony.

Lace instruction book(s)

I need your help. Annie's website sent an email out with three books about knitting lace all claiming to be "easy." One looked like it might be for beginners, but I am skeptical. So, can any of you recommend a title that is easy for us beginners. I hope to give some prayer shawls as Christmas presents and need to start now if I expect them to be under the tree by the 25th of December.
