700 Pages of Basics

For an anniversary present this year, my wife bought me a terrific book entitled The Principles of Knitting. It is full of really basic things in knitting and it take you through many, many neat techniques to enhance your knitting. It's really huge, weighs a ton, and it a great deal to digest. It will make a really good reference book, once I get through it.

Feeling dumb

Trying to work out simple lace pattern. It's k1yo first row. Coming back you skp slipping the knit stitch and knitting the yo so I get that it alternates. What I don't get is the beginning or rows so it doesn't create diagonal edge. Every row can't start with k1 yo, right? Then what does that mean about last stitches. I am sure this is. Simple solution.

Dating!

Is it a horrible thing to want to meet a guy who knits and crochets? Hmmm... There needs to be a single section. I sometimes feel embarrassed to tell a a date that I knit and crochet. They never seem to get it or make assumptions about who I am. Maybe its just living in New York.

prayer shawls

At the request of some friends, I completed a couple of prayer shawls that will go to their loved ones who have entered chemo. In both cases, cancer has been detected in early stages, but the there are no joys with chemo. Both are acrylic so they can be washed when necessary.

Sock Knitting

Hi all,

Dr. Who projects and a new pattern.

Hi guys, I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would show you all what I've been up to. My friend, Camille's birthday had recently come up, and we're both really big Doctor Who fans. So when I saw the bigger on the inside shawl in the last issue of Knitty, I knew I had to make it for her. It is also my first handspun/handknit project.

Doing the continental

I'm on a quest to learn the continental method. I've been using the English method all my life, and my old joints are protesting. I think that there will be less pain knitting without all the yarn throwing. It's still very awkward to use my left hand. I guess that it's just of matter of practice.
