A couple of months ago, I treated myself on some Sublime cashmere merino silk combo, dk weight for 2 different projects.
In my 56 years on this planet, I have physically moved my residence, at this count, over 49 times. I suppose that says something - not sure yet if denial will fade on the self-examination process.
So I learned to spin today! Yay!
The shawl that I'm currently working is knit in two pieces and then joined in the center with the Kirchner (I'm never sure how to spell this word) stitch.
I finished these up about a week ago. They were originally intended for me, but I got lazy when knitting the foot and made it too short to fit my size 11 foot.
My latest rave: my first moebius. A very good experience.
Start: 21st June 2009
Finish: 11th July 2009
Needles: 4 mm / 80 cm Addi Turbos
Yarn: Wollmeise "Molly"; 100% superwash Merino; colourway "Neptun"
Pattern: Joukahainen by Kristel Nyberg. Published in Finnish in the magazine Ulla 03/07. Pattern is available as an English translation as Ravelry download.
Name: The name comes from the last movement of the orchestral suite The Planets by Gustav Holst.
Modifications: Added 5 rounds of stockinette after having joined all the pieces together to give the arms some more room. Added k2 between the raglan decreases to avoid the gaping holes. Did some improvisational neck-shaping with short rows. Worked out pretty well.
This is one of 2 feather and fan shawls I completed recently. This one was made from worsted wt. cotton I found the yarn at the "mill Ends" section of AC Moore, so I have no idea where it came from.
Looking to meet other guys in the WNC area who knit. Are you out there?????
