So I slipped-up...

made a super cool hat of my own design with a slip-stitch pattern based on the squares of the number 2.

even the yarn is super cool - it's made of SWS self-striping soy/wool blend.

but i forgot that the super cool slip-stitch pattern makes a smaller hat than the standard stich & I need to add extra stitches to adjust.

it's ok, ET doesnt seem to mind.

it is wearable, but a little too snug.

i am hoping to find a hip toddler to give it a good home.

More retail therapy...

Like I said in the last post, I had acquired two more skeins:

Regia 4-Ply Sierra Colour

Regia 4-Ply Sierra Colour:
Left: #5538 "Jeans"
Right: #5547 "Ethno"

I sent the private message back already, but I would like to also state here (without name, of course, since he didn't use the comment): Thank you so much to you for having got me a Pro Account on Flickr to cheer me up over the break-up from my bf. I was at first very perplexed...but this was really the first time that someone actually just made a present for me, just like that, without having known me through my blog or having had some kind of contact with me before. So, thank you soooo much! That really cheered me up!

Retail therapy....

Sockyarns

(Click on the picture to go to my Flickr for the description of each skein)

My bf cheated on me on Shrove Tuesday and broke up with me over the phone on Ash Wednesday. I could see it coming already, so I'd been fortifying myself since the beginning of the week with Retail Therapy on an array of sock yarns (I'm on a StAL 07 yarn diet, with the exception to sock yarns, since they don't count as stash....but we all know that, don't we? *LOL*).

There are actually two more skeins that I acquired on Friday, but I'll post that later on.

The very first skein had already been transformed into this:

Toe-up socks on Magic loop

Started: 19th February 2007
Finished: WIP
Yarn: Regia Nodic Colour 4-ply sock yarn, colour #5510 "Trondheim"
Needle: 2.5 mm/ US #1/#2 Addi Turbos
Pattern: Universal Toe-up Sock using Magic Cast-On

The picture's a bit older now, because I've finished that one sock already (*mental note: bind off toe-up socks loosely!!*) and am almost half way through the foot of the second one.

Anyway, hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Lets try this again.

After a day of crocheting me some granny squares... I have decided to try my origanal beanie again... I have worked about a quarter of it already and now I am going to ask for suggestions...

I casted on 92... Any suggestions on how to decrease... the pattern says to:

k1 *k2t knit 11*
k
k1 *k2t knit 10*
k
k1 *k2t knit 9*

and so on till I get to about 15 stitches total...

Does this seem right and if not, any other ideas, or any ideas in general?

Two Color Skinny Scarf

Hey guys!

I had an idea to knit a scarf that had stripes that ran the legnth of the scarf. I emailed Tom to ask if it were possible and he told me yes. He gave me a link to a project but it looked crocheted. So I kept searching and found something (can't remember the link) that confirmed what Tom said about knitting the scarf side ways. Then I found this scarf at Yarn Harlot and I knew I could do something.

long time no blog

Ok, I've kinda been gone for like forever. Been way too busy at work. Anyway, I"m mastering socks. Trouble with tension at first, I was much too loose, but now I have my tension problems solved. Also, learned toe up and I love it. I couldn't figure out the short row heel that stickywarp talked about till I had someone help me at the LYS, but after I got it done, its not bad at all. I have two toe up socks going. I did the short row heel on the 2nd today and I breezed thru it. Once you get the hang of it, you really don't even need to look at the patter again. I'm doing them on magic loop. While at the yarn store, I pulled on my one needle, and accidently pulled on the wrong one and pulled it out of all my loops. I screamed! Everyone was laughing hysterically and they took a picture of me. I don't look like my current picture. I have grown my hair out for the winter and I kinad look like a cross between Mike Brady and Willie Wonka. Margaret said she's send me a copy of me in distress and if so, I"ll post it on the page. Anyway, I haven't been abducted by aliens or anything, just really busy. That's all for now. Happy knitting!

Cables

I'm teaching myself to cable. This is a free Lion Brand pattern and I've found that the cable hook is difficult for my big fingers. I'm having better luck with the V-shaped cable needle. What does everyone else use?

Making Progress

Hi all, here's a little update from my Lace Project. It's slow going but I'm liking the results. I'll either be totally bald or completely gray haired by the time it's finished.

when does the sun stop shinning...

when the soldier returns from the wars, even though he has white hair, he very soon finds a young wife. but a woman has only one summer; if she does not make hay while the sun shines, no one will afterwards have anything to say to her, and she spends her days consulting oracles that never send her a husband.

Urg, I say!

As I had stated before, I had so many ideas going thru my head that I couldn't focus on one project and see it through. So... I pulled myself together and started on a beanie, because that is what I had initially wanted to make.

I started it on Saturday evening and was flying thru it and then I just started making stupid mistakes cause I wasn't paying attention to the pattern. I tore it apart and started over... I ended up doing this 3 times, just because I wasn't paying attention...

Then I finally get it right and everything and I get to the point here I start to decrease at the top and it just doesn't work. The decreases are not lining up and it's just didn't work...

It should have only taken me 2 evenings to finish this beanie. It's just a simple, nothing but knitting, beanie. Needless to say that frustration is setting in and I tore it up and put it aside for a while. I don't know what went wrong this last time because the whole thing was great till the decreases and I fallowed the pattern to the T.

So... I am moving on from that beanie to another on that I found on knitty.com. It's a very simply beanie and I hope I can make this one work.

Wish me luck.
