Hey guys!! How are you all? I haven't posted anything here in a long time. Guess I've been really busy. I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season and looking forward to a wonderful christmas this year.
I've been really busy knitting up a bunch of skinny scarfs, caps and bags and my latest venture is trying to start up a men's knitting group in my hometown. I've posted an ad about it on craigslist, but I'm not sure if anyone around where I live will take interest. We'll see.
My latest project happens to be a crocheted project. I am trying to make myself a knitting bag since I can't seem to find anything around town or online that I like. It seems like all of the knitting bags that are available are made for women (boo!). So I've dug out my camouflage yarn and am attempting to make something that a guy like me won't be embarrassed to tote around.
Anyway that's what I'm up do for now. I'll check back in later... oh by the way guys I love to read all of your posts on here... especially when I'm out and about I can surf to this site on my cellphone and read up on what you guys are doing. I love it. Keep writing and knitting and showing what your making. It
This is the last gift. It is a teddy bear for my 3 1/2 year old nephew. This lucky bear is also wearing the first sweater I have ever completed. He's not perfect. I know where the errors are. His eyes are also a bit crooked and I could have done more with the mouth. But I think he looks just right.
Hey guys - I saw this on a website... http://kehinde.com/blog/?p=214
Ivy's blog - had this fantastic post (I am guessing how many of us would even consider doing this!)
here's her entry:
The 2007 Knit From Your Stash Challenge
December 21st, 2006
I know I like challanges, but I think this will be the hardest. Harder than NaNo. Harder than the Knitting Olympics. This is the brainchild of Wendy from Wendy Knits. Her criteria for the challange is here. The basic idea is, don’t buy yarn, knit from stash for 2007. I’m going to be crochetting from stash as well since I mean to crochet more in 2007. Her rules state that the challange is adaptable, so here are mine.
1. The Knit-From-Your-Stash-a-Thon will start January 1, 2007 and run through December 31, 2007.
2. I will not buy any yarn or spinning fiber during that period, with the following exceptions:
2.a. Subscription yarn and fiber doesn’t count. This would mean the sock-of-the-month club, the roving-of-the-month club, the Koigu club, and the fleeces for my adopted sheep are all good to go.
2.b. I can buy yarn to make gifts if I really don’t have anything appropriate in stash or if a specific item is requested that I can’t make from stash.
These are also Christmas gifts that have been done for a while. Good ol' Cascade 220 for these and the fur was some Berroco something or other. The attached pics show one completed and one in progress.
Somehow or other, these yarns found their way into my stash via the net. Wish I knew a cure!
The greeen is alpaca laceweight from the Etsy shop Pancake and Lulu and the other two are merino laceweight from Grand River Yarns in Ontario.
