Help, how to do an uneven edge

My wife saw this hat on a. craft table and I'm trying to make her one, but I'm not sure how to do this edge. It's not exactly scalloped but not straight and even either. Any advice? Thanks.

Here's an article I ran across that some of you might find interesting. Apparently lots of grammar school children of a certain age are almost knitting. According to this article it's the biggest kids' fad of the year. I wonder how these kids would react to a teacher who could actually knit these things. For your consideration:

past knit purl

Greetings: just thought you might like to see what I did for a friend for Christmas. I finally got past the knit 1, purl 1 stage. May you all have a wonderful holiday and good knitting in the New Year. Joe and Quinton - I am actually traveling back to your area in June and hope we can get together for some coffee and knitting. Knitting caps an easy way?

I just finished knitting a Beret for a friend of mine, the first for me. Anyway, I used two 16" circulars, a size 1 & 2. Well, before I finished I was needing to switch to a set of dpn's and I hated it so tried two 24" circular's. When I got down to a smaller number of stitches, I then had to use the dpn's.

Sky Blue Turtleneck

This is:
Oversized Turtleneck
by Bruce Weinstein
from Boyfriend Sweaters: 19 Designs for him that you'll want to wear

I made probably the worst mistake you could make when making something like this... I did not make a swatch. I paid for it! Next time. It still came out fine. Lesson learned.

I can only shudder to think what will happen when a man decides to make a similar statement. ;)
