Long time!

Hey people!

Just checking in. It has been awhile. Well I finished the rasta hat that I was making. I think I will make another. Right now I am working on a throw for my legs and feet when the summer comes and my partner decides to freeze me out of the house with the A/C. It will be purple and black using lion brand chenille. Oh, so soft! I cannot wait to see the finished product. It is nothing special pattern wise. I am actually using a dishcloth pattern on number 17's. So really simple.

Other than that, I am made some red ribbons for my churches red ribbon Sunday. They are just worsted weight yarn knitted in a strip and then they will be folded like the AIDS Ribbon and pinned on my and my partners lapels or shirts or whatever.

I am considering trying my had at illusion knitting. I downloaded a pattern that is a ribbon when you look at it from the side. The pattern is white and pink for breast cancer. I am considering adapting it for AIDS and make two, on will be white and red and the other will be black and red. If they come out well then I will incorporate them into an art project that I am getting ready for AIDS Delaware's A Day Without Art Auction in December.

On that note, thank you to all who gave hats and scarfs this past winter. It was really cool to receive the items and see what everyone was doing. My favs (they did go to clients even though I liked them) were Rex's hat that I think was a rib knit the whole way and super stretchy and TomH's scarfs. I actually did a couple of scarfs based on one of his patterns. Thanks again! I really appreciated it!

Yarn Stores in San Francisco

We're going to go to "the city" for Memorial Day - I am going to try to get to a yarn store if possible - does anyone have suggestions as to which one(s) would be the best to venture to? We're trying to do research to eventually open a store of our own!

any suggestions of stores to visit would be appreciated!

No idea how I should call this entry. :-p

1. Kolenyas #9 & #10, 2. Kolenyas in progress (#9 & #10), 3. Kolenyas in progress (#9 & #10), 4. Kolenyas in progress (#9 & #10)

Started: 07th January 2007
Finished: These are WIPs! - Half way @ 20th March 2007
Yarn: Noro Kureyon, 100% Wool, colour #124 and #180
Needle: 3.5 mm INOX dpns
Pattern: Kolenya from Sheep and No City
Technique: Knitting two Kolenyas at once on one set of dpns using Kory Stamper's 2 Socks in 1 method from Knitty Fall 2006

To tell you the truth, I'm a bit overwhelmed right now and don't exactly know where to start blogging with all the knitting related stuff I have to tell you. So, I'm just stabbing my finger blindly at a point an pick that one as the starting point.

Let's kick off with the above....Can you still remember my extreme knitting phase? Well, I left the project to marinate in the UFO-box for so long...knitting two things at once takes quite a while and it tired me out. Apart from that I made the mistake - even with much care - of crossing the yarn once...so that when I finished each side of the Kolenyas and was pulling them apart from each other...well, you know the scenario: The darn things wouldn't separate.

I ended up having to cut the stitch *inserts desperate scream here* and then fudge it together afterwards. And because of this experience, I'll be knitting the other side of each pair separately.

*Lesson learned*

Repost about QueerKnits Flickr Group

I posted about this a while back, but it kind of got caught up in a flurry of posts and didn't stay up on the home page long. I started a QueerKnits Flickr group for folks who have Flickr accounts to be able to share their knitting photos more easily. Come join us if you're interested.

Also, I notice that Darrel's added an rss reader in the sidebar which receives rss feed of images that have been posted to the group. So even if you don't have a Flickr account, have a look at what we're posting.

FO's and WIP's

I guess it's been a while since I posted anything. Things have been busy on the knitting front, though. I recently finished this beanie for my cousin who shipped out to Afghanistan last weekend.

The pattern is my own and easy enough that most of you should be able to figure it out. If you don't want to do the figuring, though...
