What's the difference

between viscose and rayon? I'm making a lace scarf for a freind and it's a blend of viscose, silk and linen. Can I just tell her it's a rayon blend? She's the kind of person that will want to know and the word rayon has a certain cachet that viscose does not.

I always wondered about that. I do know that viscose often seems silkier to me. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

You could tell her that...

You could tell her that... Viscose is the naturally occuring liquid that is used to amke many artificial fabrics/materials, including rayon. Best guess is, is that even if it's not the exact same as Rayon, chemically it is very similar and has many of the same properties so ypu could call it Rayon.

Good luck and happy knitting!
