I mayt be missing something very obvious - but when I look at "recent posts" some of the titles have red astericks next to them - and I can't see any sort of pattern for it. what do the astericks mean?

Everyone *knows* what the EVIL asterisk means.   Come on, then. Deep inside yourself, Y O U    K N O W   !!!!   It's a dasterdly Nasty plot to lure new knitters into falling into the habit of Looped-Over Cast-ons.  It's insidious, and it MUST be stopped.  Whoever is foisting this travesty on the members of this guild should be strippped of membership, flogged into submission, debased to the lowest level of Hell and then . . . then . . . . uh, . . . . . then . . . . . . Oh!  Where am I?  I seem to have lost consiousness there for a bit.

 Ahem.  Well, then:  Where were we?  Oh, that's right.  Continental vs. American knitting.  Always a curious subject . . .
