I just home-engineered a comfort grip for my crochet hook, using a nerf football and a pair of pliers.

I have been eying the ergonomic hooks and the crochet egg from Lion Brand, but I hadn't found anything that I really liked. After examining countless ways to pad my crochet hooks, I was given a simple solution by a nursing home employee. Often times you can just use a foam ball and stick the utensil (fork, spoon, crochet hook etc.) inside the ball. To be truthful, my husband actually called the nursing home for me.

Anyhow, I forcibly removed the tail of this football, by twisting and pulling. Then I used a pair of pliers to remove the plastic rod from the tail. I placed the tail back into the football and cut the tail to accommodate my crochet hook and slide the crochet hook into the center of the tube. I think this will be just about perfect.

Now, I'm chomping at the bit to try it out. However, I'll have to wait until my train ride home.
