I knit this using 2/18 Zephyr 50/50 wool silk on US #3 needles. It took approximately 380 yards to make the scarf 8"x80". I used the pattern from Victorian Lace Today but only did one repeat of the body chart in order to make the scarf narrower.

Yowza! Yet another great piece of knitting. I like the way the borders get knit onto the project [very Shetland] but have never been brave enough to attempt it. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
Are those ends knit on
Are those ends knit on perpendicular? or grafted? or what?
BTW - I am AMAZED at the quantity and (as always) the quality of the lace you knit!
They are knit on. You
They are knit on. You actually start with the first border, knit it, cast it off except for one then pick up the stitches from the straight edge of the border to form the body. (So the border is knit perpendicular to the body.) Then when you finish the body you cast it off (except for one stitch) and then cast on the stitches for the second border and knit it on to the end of the body. I hope that makes sense!
Thanks for the compliment - but I have to confess my knitting only looks as good as what was designed so I appreciate all of your excellent design work!
