It's the season of scarf making - and I found this stitch which looks great on a thick, chunky wool. I'm not sure why it's called dot stitch but I liked the look of it. It's not revearsable, but the wrong side looks pretty good. You need multiples of 2 stitches

3. p1.k1 to end

Happy knitting

Thank you. It has a comfortable organized disorder look to it. I've copied your message and the scarf pic into a Pages doc (Mac speak.) This'll help me thin down my inventory of bigYarn.

It's great! I am just about to knit a scarf for a friend's 70th birthday, and this pattern seems to do the trick perfectly...

This is a great stitch and very versatile. Mon Tricot knitting books call it "Douple Pique." I've used it for socks and in afghans. [Especially the center start square afghan I posted to my blog here.] The reverse side has a pretty unique look in itself and I am considering that look for another project. Glad that you enjoy it. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

I was wondering what the reverse would look like.
The previous "dots" pattern I have seen was k2, p1 across, with all purll above and below. So you end up with little purl "dots" on a stockinette ground.

The dots make the pattern for the front side. This version, on the reverse, has a V-stitch look to it that is a bit hard to describe. The best I can recommend is to do a swatch. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

It's interesting - the bigger the yarn the better a simple stitch looks. This is good stuff David. I'm going to try it somewhere. I feel another cushion coming on.

Very pretty stitch... It's like seed stitch with purl rows between. The look actually reminds me a bit of the linen stitch too. Happy scarf making season!!
