Washinton DC Visit

I will be visiting Washington DC 7/25 through 7/31. Anyone who has knowledge of the area and can offer suggestions for fun things to do, LYS's, things knitting-oriented or otherwise, please let me know. I am going with a group that I know I will need to break free from at several points if I am to maintain my sanity. It would be good if I had diversion tactics in mind. Thanks!

I was working in DC and found a nice little shop called Stitch which isn't that far from the great deli, Dean and Delucca I think. I l;ooked online and I think this is it:

There is a nice yarn shop in Old Towne Alexandria called Knit Happens. Great staff and knit night is Wednesday. Always a great crowd and they're very welcoming. Give it a go.
