Once upon a time there was a picture of a fiddle head fern....

Which became a colorway

Recently one of my test knitters finished the shawl in the attached photo....

Now consider the two of them together.

I wish I had more time to knit!

OK, I've thought about it

OK, I've thought about it and I can't see that pattern in a colorway maybe I'm too much of a purist or traditionalist but I love natural and white lace especially with that amount of complexity. I have to say the fiddle head fern colorway is also exquiste. Somtimes it just doesn't work to make one stunning thing out of another. Guilding the lilly comes to mind. If I had that colorway I would proabably knit it into a lace scarf but in a super simple pattern.

Did you do the dye job as well? You really are inspiring and I'm not just trying to get on your good side. :-)

No - Ray of Knitivity did

No - Ray of Knitivity did the dye job. His colorways tend to be very short runs of colour - and I have found in knitting them up that there is a lot more blending that goes on then one wod think.
