ive almost finished the blanket APART FROM THE BALL OF CREAM RAN OUT WHEN ALL I NEEDED WAS 12 MORE ROWS!
heartbreaking.
i cant really afford to buy a $5 ball of wool just for that. uuuggggghhhh

This is the red blanket with the stripe and cream borders?
If you can't get more yarn, and don't have another color to use, an option is to cut the yarn on the bottom edge a few rows up, placing the loops on a needle as you unravel. Cast off those loops on the bottom and use the unraveled yarn from the bottom to add rows to the top. Your edges won't be the same width, but at least they'll be the same color.

The second sweater I made

The second sweater I made ended up being about 2 inches too short and I had to cut it apart, knit up the extra and sew it back together in pattern. It wasn't fun, so I don't blame you for opting to get another ball of yarn.

Another trick I've tried on

Another trick I've tried on scarves and afghans is to finish with what you have then maybe use a different color of yarn to add a stripe at one or both ends. This does depend on the pattern you're using; some patterns don't lend themselves to this solution. Maybe 6 rows at each end of a contrasting yarn. Or, crochet a few inches of edging to make up the difference and a row or two on the sides to connect them, in essence, framing the main body..or not, just doing the 2 ends. I tend to take the finished size as a suggestion rather than a requirement on blankets, afghans, scarves, toys or stuffed animals so an extra inch or two shouldn't be that critical. Now, sweaters, socks and hats, that's a different story. It's tragic to finish a hat and have to look for someone with a 10" or a 30" head to fit it to...
