sock cuff bind off

I've done socks before, but always cuff down. I'm just about done with my first sock that is toe up. I don't know how to bind off. Is there a special way to do it so it will be elastic?

Thanks for the website... I'm doing my first 2 pair of socks now... yes 2 pair at once... bulky yarn and then a sock yarn... Joe's keeping an eye me... Will be finished the first pair soon.
I've got a few patterns saved on my computer... I'll get a bit of confidence and then try some of them. Great site thanks.

Just the one - rightmost -

Just the one - rightmost - stitch on your needle.

In essence you'll be threading through each stitch twice except for the very first stitch.

-- except that first stitch which you take off will go on the end of the last needle so that when you come around to it again at the end, you will -- finally -- go through it the second time. It all works out, don't worry!

I never knew that little

I never knew that little trick. Thanks, Tallguy. I normally do top down socks but have been tempted to try toe up. But I use sewn bind off fairly regularly for other projects. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Personally, I use Elizabeth Zimmermann's sewn bind-off as described here:

Other folks suggest other methods:
- Cast off with a larger needle
- Increase between every stitch on your last row of knitting and then bind-off

That site says "sew forward

That site says "sew forward (right to left) through two stitches as if to purl, leave the stitches on. Sew backward (left to right) through one stitch as if to knit and remove the stitch.
Repeat from * until you run out of stitches. Work in tail on the inside of the sock and trim any excess."

When it to remove the stitch, is that both of the stitches you just threaded, or just the end one?
