First!

Hi.

Blarsen here. I was taught to knit by my Mom when I was 6 but promptly forgot about it when faced with the scorn of my playmates.

It is now 42 years later, and I am rediscovering the art. Been at it for a month now and have a couple of scarves, a pair of socks, a well-on-the-way wool sweater, a barely started Merino baby blanket, and a sore shoulder to show for it. My wife is an accomplished albeit sporadic knitter and a great source of wisdom and handy magic tricks.

I live in Stavanger on the south-western coast of Norway and work with IT stuff, mainly for the petroleum sector like most of my ilk around here.

I've just joined Ravelry but was thrilled to find that menwhoknit.com exists. Kudos to the organizers, looking forward to get to know you all.

Welcome back to the world of

Welcome back to the world of knitting. Forget about the childhood playmates and move forward to the clicking of knitting needles whether at home or in public. Looking forward to seeing the sweater as it progresses.

As my first sweater project

As my first sweater project I am of course doing a traditional Norwegian one. The pattern is named "Snøkrystall" (snowflake) and dates back from the 50ies. I had one of these as a kid.

Below is a ladies version in BW. I'm doing mine with a more contemporary selection of colors (heh) and a round neck.

I'll get back with pictures of my own project as soon as I get to the interesting bits. :-)
