I finally finished my first scarf. Just a basic k2p2 pattern, but I'm happy with it. I just started knitting a month ago and can't get enough. I'm inspired by many of the projects on this site.
Awesome job for you first scarf. It's gorgeous and your gauge is incredibly even. However, you are definitely twisting your stitches i.e. knitting through the back loop. Gives it a nice texture.

Great scarf. and welcome to MWK. As the other guys have made coment on the stitches I was wondering if you are knitting in a "Combination method", on an odd number of stitches? That might explain their formation.
Yes, you've done something different with that k2p2 rib, I'd sure like to know what it is because I love it. It's a very masculine texture. I think you should take it to your local LYS and show them how you did it, then have them write it down so you can share it with us. Maybe you invented a new rib on your first go round. What will you call it?
Looks nice, congrats on finishing it. Did you happen to work this on an odd number of stitches? It doesn't look quite like K2, P2 and it does look like either the stitches are twisted or it also looks like a K2, P2 when done on an odd number of stitches. No matter, just curious, it looks great regardless! Welcome to the site and keep posting your work.
Hahaha...mross, your comment makes me think of my first sweater. Being self-taught, I effectively taught myself to knit twisted stitches, so the entire sweater, knit in the round, twists around the body like it has secret dreams of being a tornado. Okay, not that bad, but it took me till after the sweater to realize I had done it wrong. The sweater wears like a potato sack, but the fair isle is dandy!
As for the scarf and the first project finished...HUZZAH! I'm so excited for you! And mross is right: it looks great! Now if I can only convince you that you need to make a corresponding hat on a circular needle...
Hey Jeff...for a first time knitter, you stitches look incredibly uniform, although from the picture, it doesn't look like K2 P2. Perhaps the ribbing is just pulling in enough so it looks different, but it could also be that your stitches are twisted. Either way, it looks fantastic.

You're right about the stitches. My mom noticed I was knitting through the back loop when she watched me knit. She's a crafting genius and corrected my technique. I figured I would just complete it, and work on knitting the correct way with future projects. Thanks for the all comments guys!
