...like mad! seriously! I am amazed at the outpouring of action our little knitting community is exhibiting! just yesterday, I think I received 5 packages (3 envelopes and 2 boxes!) - full of notes for Jason and gorgeous squares!!! I wanted to be sure to let you know that they are arriving... I am keeping all your squares in their respective packages for now... with plans to be sure to include at LEAST one square from each contributor. (if we get more than 72 contributors, that might be a problem but I think we're safe)...
from the Men's Spring Knitting Retreat at Easton Mountain, NY, I got 28 squares!!! (21 of those squares from one guy- who, I think organized a knit night with his stitch n bitch pals) - I'm really excited about moving forward with the construction but I'm holding off until after May 30th (the stated deadline for square delivery)...
Once the deadline has passed, I'll still be accepting squares - and if we get enough for a second or third blanket, it will be made and donated to a charity in our names... in honor of jason and all those we know who are fighting the fight.
Thank you again for your help and contributions that are making this happen - more to come soon! (and if you haven't mailed your squares, please do it soon!!!)
xoxo

I am in the process of a move, and the specified yarn is unavailble here in the sticks. Can I at least help with S&H? How would I do that?
I feel like a heel, and would very much like to contribute.
You let go of it, it let go of you.

May I add my thanks too, for all the work you are putting into this. Maybe you could invite a couple of MWK house guest for the weekend to help you put all these squares together lol.
Thanks for taking care of
Thanks for taking care of the finishing and such, Kyle. I second the idea of several lap robes if we have enough blocks left over. Sent mine off on Friday last. We all deserve a bucketful of good karma for this outpouring of love. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Yes, I'm one of those who also made "simple" squares. But they were made with love! I sent mine on Saturday so they might not have arrived yet.
Your postal carrier must be having to make special deliveries just to your house!
Aaron I think your squares
Aaron I think your squares did arrive already :) - I hope everyone will forgive me for not emailing them all individually to let them know when they arrive... I'm in the middle of finishing school for the semester, as well as working full time so that limits my ability to do everything 100% like I'd like...
I am having the packages actually delivered to work (so they're not left sitting somewhere) and I told our postal carrier the story - he said he's glad to deliver them and promised not to complain too much... since he can't knit, that was the best he could offer.
I thought that was pretty cool!

Kyle - for the "extra"
Kyle - for the "extra" squares . . .
I wonder if maybe putting them together in a 5 x 5 lap robe size might be a better use. That's 40 inches square with no allowances for a border or anything - a good laprobe size; and that way maybe "we" could donate to multiple organizations.
And three lap robes is only 3 more squares then a single blanket.
that's a great idea! I'm
that's a great idea! I'm going to first see how many we have left and go from there... but definately worth taking into consideration. Chances are I'll want a little break from joining squares after the marathon assembly that's imminent...

I sent in 2 yesterday. Mine
I sent in 2 yesterday. Mine were both a solid color and very simple stitches. I keep seeing everyone post pictures of theirs and I was worried that mine wouldn't even make it in. Knowing that a second or third blanket could be made is good because then I know it will be used.
If we don't have enough for a full blanket, then I suggest we make a smaller one and send it to a childrens hospital.
Every square that is
Every square that is contributed is beautiful in that every stitch was filled with the love and care that we all have for this young man. That beauty will come together when Kyle assembles this masterpiece of love for our Jason. And each of us will be a part of it.
"Simple" squares have their

Well done Kyle for getting
Well done Kyle for getting it all started... setting the goal... now little squares winging their way to you from all 4 corners of the globe to you... 72 squares will be a 'sinch' but the extras what will you do?
Rick and I sent our squares in the middle of last week, so they should be arriving some time soon.
Have fun picking up all the stitches and knitting them together... worthy cause... :)
