This actually looks
This actually looks intimidating to me. It's amazing! One day I will venture into the lace world that so many of you boys are familiar with...
Beautiful! The dark color
Beautiful! The dark color makes it so mystical and somewhat gothic. It has a wonderful "Tim Burton" feel to it.
I love it, and one day I
I love it, and one day I will make something like this. Just need to find the time and the proper yarn.
What a beautiful shawl,
What a beautiful shawl, you've done a fabulous job. Is it from Victorian Lace Today by Jane Sowerby? What yarn and needles?
Yes it is Victorian Lace
Yes it is Victorian Lace Today, the needles were 4mm, the yarn was a cone yarn, unspecified content. It cost me $2.45 lol
Ha! Talk about getting a
Ha! Talk about getting a bang for your buck! Way to go! It's beautiful.
Stunning! Great job!!
Stunning! Great job!!
Fantastic lacework. I am
Fantastic lacework. I am getting ideas about future projects just looking at it. OOOOHHHH...The Dark Side of lace is calling.....(Must resist. Too many projects already!) -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
WOW!!! Once again, I'm
WOW!!!
Once again, I'm envious. I really do love to see all of the beautiful lace patterns that are out there.
Magnificent work.

The dark yarn is really
The dark yarn is really striking- beautiful!
Beautiful...just beautiful.
Beautiful...just beautiful. This is probably a stupid question, but is this one of MMario's designs? I guess it doesn't matter...the real question I have is how is the mesh that fills in the big spiral sections made (if it's easy to describe...if not, I'd be happy to look at the design if it's online to figure it out).
Thanks, the pattern is from
Thanks, the pattern is from Victorian Lace, MMario did a good job describing how it was done, thanks MMario, you saved me the chore.
That swirly
That swirly star/flower/medallion is so great for a center. And it can be sized up or down easily, which makes it very convenient.

It's not one of my designs -
It's not one of my designs - but it uses the same motif I - errr "borrowed" from a public domian doily.
The mesh of the swirly star shape is just simple eyelets. It increases one eyelet every other pattern round. The "Edge" varies by one stitch
So you do k2, YO, k2
Then k2, YO, k3
then k2, k2tog, YO, k1, yo, k2
k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k3
k2, (k2tog,yo) x2, k1, yo, k2
etc while you are increaing.
ONece you start the background the increases are in those sections and the yo's decrease every other pattern round
look for "swirl leaf doily" on the web.

Not being a lace knitter, it
Not being a lace knitter, it defies my mind that you can produce that on the same needles that I'm doing scarves, sweaters, and afghan on. WOW! Nice job!
That is absolutely
