Andy's Cashmere House Socks
My Most Beloved puts up with a lot when it comes to my knitting and fiber addiction. I am so lucky to have such a loving and supportive partner. He has long had one request... Cashmere Socks! Well, after purchasing the yarn back in December... then finding the right pattern... I finished the socks this evening and he is swathed in luxury as I type!!
I used US Size 7 DPNs and Sapphire Jade Mongolian Cashmere in "Film Noir" colorway. The pattern is from Cat Bordhi's "New Pathways for Sock Knitters" book and is called the Philosopher's House Socks.
Honestly, the socks are a little small for him... but they stretch and Andy says, "I like them tight." He is just too sweet! I tried doing the swatch and plugging in the measurements so that they fit him perfectly and they were HUGE... so I just knit the standard pattern in the book and hoped for the best. Given that these are the first pair of socks that I have actually completed... I am relatively pleased with the results.
They feel so wonderful. So luxurious and soft. I real treat to have knitted!

Very nice, Thor. I use size
Very nice, Thor. I use size 7s and a thicker yarn to teach house socks as my beginner sock pattern. I'll be teaching my first semi-pro class in June but the shop owner asked we change the name. Sooo..."Easy Socks" is it. I've heard rumors that there's a lot of interest but, cautious man that I am, I wait to see who actually shows up. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
