Hi, everyone. I've had this link sitting in my mailbox for a couple of months, but only got around to investigating today since I needed something to write about in my guild newsletter. Since I'm editor, I get to fill up space when things slow down in the summer.
Ok, so, about me: I've been knitting on and off for about 44 years, give or take a few. Mostly on for the last ten or so. I also weave, crochet, sew, and spin. Here's a sample of what I've been doing lately. The yarn is a handspun two ply from a dyed roving of Polwarth wool, very soft and warm. The scarf (since finished, but no photo of the finished item yet) is done in the old lace pattern "feather and fan," two repeats across plus garter stitch borders. Finished size 9 x 52 inches.
I'm a professional librarian, a wannabe horseman (I have three but mostly they seem to own me and I certainly am no expert) and a hobby farmer. My partner and I have sheep, rabbits, and ducks on our five acres too. I have lots of photos of sheep and lambs, anyone interested should let me know and I'll point you to them.
I look forward to some rather different cameraderie here. I belong to two guilds, one for weavers and one for spinners, but I'm the only active male member in the spinning guild. The weavers have a few men (about 8 percent of total membership, all four of us.) We put on a joint show every October in Woodstock, Illinois, so if you're in the area, plan to come see some nice work and chat with whomever is on gallery duty.
Oh, and I should add that the photo of me was taken about 15 years ago. It was the largest face shot I could find, though. Lots of recent stuff but I'm usually one of a crowd or else it's a behind view. ;) [Edit: There, fixed that. This one is less than 5 years old.]
