First Fair Isle

My first Fair Isle knit. It went rather well. I’m a continental knitter so learning english style, to have both yarns ready to knit, was a bit of a challenge for this project. I worried that I would totally mess up my hat but by the first row of squares I had it. I was successfully knitting the blue color continental and the yellow english. My only problem was reducing for the crown. I got a little ahead of myself and reduced on every row. Not a huge problem. I ripped it back, picked up the stitches and did it right.

Very good job on the Fair Isle. If you hadn't told me, I'd have said you'd been doing it for a while. That's one of the reasons I learned continental, too. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Oh yeah, and the hat -- awesome work! Very good, well made, and I like the pattern's simplicity.

Sometimes, just plain simplicity makes all the better beauty than something that much more complex.
