finished a gicft for my aunt's 80th bday. it's hand dyed silk on size 8s and came out to about 48 inches in diameter form a little over 1100 yds of lace weight silk
Props to Mmario for such a fun pattern, and a gorgeous one at that. The only reason mine is incomplete is because I had other projects that had due dates, and now I'm taking a break on a nice and easy pair of socks.

I am ashamed to admit it but I have just cast this on and am around row 35 and I am so excited the other thirty odd projects are tossed to one side even the two designing projects have taken a back seat. I am using Malabrigo lace weight, colourway is Seafoam. Hope mine turns out as nicely as yours.
It looks great! I'm working on my first right now. Not a difficult pattern, but definitely one you have to pay attention to. Not a project for knitting circle night or watching television. I started over once. I'm hoping that I'll get past that point to where you can fix mistakes. But then my mistake was caused by not paying attention to my pattern.
Lace really is one of the amazing parts of knitting. I love how this pattern just blooms into existence as you work on it.
A gorgeous shawl and one very lucky, much loved aunt. I hope she enjoys it as much as we've enjoyed admiring it. - Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
I love that shawl, and I wish that I didn't keep messing up the one I am making. I have frogged it so many times for so many different reasons. Of course, now I really want to make the PI-neapple strudel too... whatever shall I do?

You are having the same
You are having the same reaction a lot of people have to QAL. I have to admit I don't understand it, but it certainly gives me a boost in the ego.

lace weight worked for me.
lace weight worked for me. i liked the colorway, but i may try a solid color next time to make the design pop more
Fiber content can have a big
Fiber content can have a big impact also; Cotton, Wool, Alpaca all have a lot more "stretch" in them then does silk, and that affects the blocking.
