New to the site

We'll I figure I can introduce myself by letting you know what I'm working on.

I'm taken my needles out of the closet and remembered how much I enjoy knitting. It's amazing how your hands remember what to do!

I pull a pattern for a wine bottle sweater/cosy (keep your wine nice and cold on the table!) from knitty.com and modified it a little.

Rather than making it flat and sewing it up, I figured it would be easier on double ended needles in the round.

Not easier. I've added cables on the second one; I have about 50 stitches and am working with five needles plus the cable needle.

It's a little like knitting a porcupine.

Cheers, more details (and hopefully more interesting projects) to follow.

Steve

Welcome to the site! And I

Welcome to the site! And I love DPNS myself. I have had a friend show me the magic loop and have another friend that wants to teach me the two circular needle style to make socks, but in the end I believe I will stay with the DPNS. Welcome again and I will have to go to Knitty myself and get that pattern and do some wine cozeys gifts this year for christmas. Thanks for the idea!

Very good idea and welcome

Very good idea and welcome to the MWK group, I am fairly new myself but have recieved a warm welcome and have been astounded by the calibre of work and the knowledge that abounds on here. I spend far to much time going through the blogs and history and that takes away from my knitting time. Look forward to seeing more of your work. I too prefer 5 needles so will have a go at this....oh my one more project for the que lol.

Those bottle cosy patterns

Those bottle cosy patterns look really neat. I think I have a great idea for gifts for friends who enjoy wine with dinner. Welcome to MWK and hope to see you often. Take care. Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

It is like knitting a porcupine especially when you're working with 0s. But it's so impressive to people who don't know what you're doing. They don't realize that you're only working with two at a time. I knit socks in public all the time and it's amazing the questions people ask you. I love your bottle cozys by the way - I think an argyle one would be hilarious.

So I am not the only one

So I am not the only one that does this, thankfully. I get the strangest looks walking around campus with my porcupine of 0's. I just taught myself entrelac on 2's, doing the start of an argyle sock. So many needles, so much confusion.
