I just completed this baby blanket. It was a fun knit - but I forgot that the pattern would need to be blocked to lay flat. And, since it is made with Sirdar Snuggly DK (55% nylon; 45% acrylic) blocking is out of the question. But...a slightly ruffly baby blanket is actually ok.
I used US #5 knitting needles and it took approx 1300 yards. It is made by revising the "Fir Cone Square Shawl" pattern in Cheryl Oberle's "Folk Shawls" book. I removed part of the border and made it rectangular instead of square.
