skinny scarf

this was free pattern with a simple slip stitch knitted lengthwise, about 400 sts cast on. i used a wool poly blend cedifra riana. again, it's for a teen guy, so i thought colors were manly enough

I really like it. It's got that ethnic look that I like so much. What is a simple slip stitch? (Man, I hate to reveal my ignorance on this site. lol) It looks woven as opposed to knitted.

you knit a stitch and slip

you knit a stitch and slip the next over and over. coming back you knit the slipped one and slip the last knitted one. what it does is when you change colors, you don't get a solid band of color change but a jagged one because the color change isn't complete for two rows.

don't apologize. most of the terms on here are greek to me.

Cool... I'd wear it on campus. I want to knit a scarf lengthwise sometime, but I'm afraid that it would be a pain to make sure I cast-off with proper tension. Do you ever have problems with that?

not really. it was cast off that is between tight and loose. like goldilocks, just right. i wanted it to hold shape, in this case length, but not so tight it would distort and make the edge curved.
