I think it is funny that no one is knitting only for their mom. HA!

It is funny isn't it? I was talking to my mom last week and she asked me if I would knit her a sweater this winter. She has a basic idea of what she wants and I told her to tear out pages from magazines of things she liked. I asked her why she hadn't asked me sooner. She told me that she didn't think I would do it! How sad is that?

I knit easy stuff such as a scarf that I am working on right now since I am a newb. But I did come out of the basket and knitted while waiting for a table at the local Olive Garden with my wife who knits also as well as my stepsister. And I started knitting yesterday morning.

I have been knitting " off & on" for about 50 years. Hence I have a good supply of jumpers!! Come winter, am thinking of trying to tackle socks, as my supplier of these great items is no longer mentally able to indulge in her passion ( demented mother). Time will tell no doubt.....
The projects I most enjoy
The projects I most enjoy are with mixing color, detail and knitting to fit a specific person.

I knit only for others - and I hate, make that HATE knitting things that have to fit. So it's afghans, scarves, shawls, etc. that I do. And, I like knitting challenging things most of all.
I'm getting ready to sit down and knit Mmario's Wedding Peacock as a bridal veil for my daughter. I'm using US #3 needles, and 2/60 silk, with 3/0 beads.
I also have a baby blanket on the needles - I'm reducing the Fir Cone Shawl Pattern to baby blanket size. We'll see how it goes!

I usually make things for others, especially those who I know will appreciate handmade gifts. Now, I'm finally working on a project for me (well, technically my partner) - a Lover's Knot Aran Afghan.
I've only been knitting
I've only been knitting since 12/6/08 and the first projects I made were for others, including my mother, but nothing for me. I'm still learning and everyday is a new adventure for me!
I knit what I need to knit.
I knit what I need to knit. I needed a jumper/sweater for winter 'cos I only had one handknit when I moved from Asia.
Then I got my dog groomed in the middle of winter and now he is shivering like crazy ... so I am knitting him a sweater.
Next might be woollen socks ... but it will depend if it is still winter by the time I finish the dog's sweater. Rick tells me that I knit quickly but ... my output isn't so much... so it takes me a long time to finish projects.... ok ... my total output has been 3 hats and a sweater ... but with time ... and improved concentration... it'll come.
And so will my wonderful handknit wardrobe :)

Oh my, I had to check the "I'm a selfish b*****d, and only knit for myself" button. As I largely knit sweaters, I'm afraid that the time involved needs to get spent on me. Maybe I'll be more generous in future, once I have more sweaters that I can conceivably wear.

I like to have variety. I usually have something challenging and something easy going at the same time. Sometimes it is always for me and at other times for others.

I'm a knit whore, I'll try to knit anything. TRY being key.

I typically pick a pattern I like and knit it. If it suits me, I may keep it. Otherwise, I give it away or sell it. I have rarely said, "I'll knit this for so-and-so," and I hate it when people ask me to knit them something.

It's got to have some challenge -- but nothing killer...

I like to knit easy projects
I like to knit easy projects that LOOK challanging for other people; but only the things I want to knit, not necessarily the things they want me to knit.
