After browsing the web and ravelry for a hat pattern "close" to my liking I remembered one of my first ptojects. It was a grass stuff toy from Mochimochiland by Anna at

I gave the finished toy to my youngest son who named it "Grass Stain". I went back to to her website and after some number crunching I decided to make "Grass" into a hat. I used 2 balls of Lion Brand Landscapes in #273 Spring Desert I received for Christmas and knitted the hat in the round vs. flat like in the original pattern. I also added 4 or 5 rows at the beginning to give the hat some length.
I hope to give this to my niece this coming weekend when I give her mother the shawl I recently finished.
I am still debating on adding eyes to the hat. I might bring some yarn and ask my niece...
Happy knitting...
