what decrease to use

I'm working on my first sweater. The pattern calls for 2 1/2 inches of ribbing before switching to St.
On the first purl row of the St, it wants me to decrease by 20 stitches, but it doesn't say which decrease stitch to use. Does anyone have ant recommendations for this? Should I just purl 2 tog?

My guess would be that if they don't specify, then the simplest is the bestest. Thus purl 2 tog.
