Yarn Sale????

So, in today's paper, JoAnn and Michael's advertised a huge yarn blowout sale. Do I ignore the temptation or just feed the addiction knowing that they don't have the best selection of yarns?

I agree with the comments

I agree with the comments below - I don't really look at JoAnn's much, but I really like the Patons and Lion Brand 100% stuff that Michaels carries. I usually steer clear of the acrylic or acrylic blends. Happy shopping and good luck!

It's a toss up as to which

It's a toss up as to which company has a better selection of yarn, and ofttimes various by region. Nonetheless, it might well be worth checking both out, if for no other reason than for an afternoon's outing. There maybe a surprise lurking amoungst the yarns of one (or more) that captures your attention.

I saw some sock yarn I liked...but only bought one skein of red-orange eyelash... which I needed for a baby hat...LOL

I would go personally...
Calamec, I don't know about a group of men who knit in Arlington, but I sure wish I could find a group of guys to knit with. Lord knows I'm probably one of 2 or 3 guys in Athens, GA who knits.

put it this way - if you go, and they don't have anything you want, then you can feel virtuous for resisting. If you go and they have stuff you want, then you can feel virtuous for saving money. If you don't go, you've lost at least to chances to be virtuous.

Clearly going is good for your morals and your morale.

Hey Guys: I am excited about

Hey Guys:

I am excited about the 2nd and 4th week in January 2009. I will start my one-on-one private lessons at Yarn Heven (local yarn shop) in Arlington, Texas.

Can anyone tell me if there is a goup of men that meet to knit in Arlington, Texas?

I'm a sucker for yarn sales

I'm a sucker for yarn sales -- Ive bought plenty of stuff that probably wasn't worth the dollar or two a skein, but then again, some of the stuff I've found on sale has been fantastic! I actually like a lot of Jo-Ann's yarn, even though it's not the highest quality stuff. They do have a lot of stuff that works great when I do my multi-stranding projects, like scarves, hats, and blankets. I dunno... I'd go with a set amount in mind, and if you see something you like, go for it!
