Socks In Progress

Right now I have 3 pairs of socks in the works. Of course two of those each have one completed sock. It's just the way I am.

I use the Basic Sock pattern from Ann Budds book, The Knitters Handy Book of Patterns. I just throw in different ribbing patterns. This first pair is using my own hand-painted sock yarn that I dyed using drink mixes. I've gotten about 5 inches of the 2nd sock knit

This next pair is using a variation of the pattern After Berta, from Socks, Socks, Socks. Rather than doing a straight ribbing on the leg, I spiraled the leg and knit the foot stockinette. The yarn is Regia Cotton.

This last one is failing to please me in results and it may get frogged. I'm working a zig-zag rib on the leg, but the self-stripping of the yarn is really hiding it. I think it would look much better in a solid color. I'll either rip this out and start them over with another sock yarn, or rip back to before the zig zag and work the 2/2 rib straight.

Actually it was Clover

Actually it was Clover Valley Orange Drink mix from the Dollar General store for 10 cents a packets. Of course the clerk, who was tattooed and pierced, looked at me like I was weird when I bought 20 packets. And it was during the summer too, so Icould have drank it all...LOL

well - he didn't specify.

well - he didn't specify. So maybe he used RIT dye and margharita mix (the latter applied internally)?

Wow these are great socks!!

Wow these are great socks!! I can see what you mean about not being able to see the rib pattern on the last one but, I love the pattern and color that the combination of yarn and rib make.

Great colors! You could

Great colors! You could always wear a different sock on each foot that way you wouldn't have to worry about the second one!

I do consider myself

I do consider myself somewhat quirky, but that even goes beyond my bounds.

Randy, what you have

Randy, what you have suggested is trademark quirk of the director of the principal art gallery in Sydney. The gallery shop even sells a pairs of socks, each one of a pair a different colour.
