Very OT: My Mother Passed Away Last Night
The title pretty much says it all. I got a late night call that my mother had slipped into a coma and died. Cancer.

I think that losing a parent
I think that losing a parent or a child is the hardest thing most of us ever have to go through. I'm sure you'll weather the storm, but I'm sorry that you have to and wish you the best at a difficult time.

Mason, my heart is with you. My mother died last year so I can empathize a bit. Mothers are amazing people and their loss (in my experience) leaves a huge hole in life. These initial days will be hectic, emotionally as well as physically. So be kind to yourself and rest as much as you can.
