Here is a picture of my scarf so far. The picture is a little dark (photography is not my forte). I merged a cable pattern I liked with a traditional tube scarf. I hope this effect is both manly and attractive.
By "tube scarf" I mean it is knit in the round, so the back is just stockinette and you don't see the back of the cables. I think this is a pretty common way to knit striped scarves, to hide all the ends.
Thanks for all the words of support. It took me a while to arrive at this pattern. There were a handful of tries that got frogged first. The yarn is Brown Sheep Lanaloft and the color is Precious Stones. I adjusted the pattern to fit the yarn. because I liked it so much.
