I hate baby things

AndrewNiehus's picture

So I finally got these things done. I hated every moment like you could not believe. I don't know why...I just hated working on these. My friend's baby better be happy when she gets here, cause I am not making her any more. I thought they were supposed to be for a newborn, but they look a bit big...I think. As I have said before, I have no idea how big a newborn is.

Never say never. The

Never say never. The parents might just love these. The baby will grown into them if they're too big, and in no time they'll out grow them and the mom will more likely than not put them away for the "next one."

You know what the worst part

You know what the worst part about knitting baby items is? The parents. LOL Maybe it's different when you're volunteering than when you're being commissioned, but I will never knit any baby item on commission again. I did a really adorable baby scarf for someone. It was the perfect width and length, tightly knit to avoid any finger-trapping holes, and made out a super-soft, machine washable yarn. It was also carnation pink as requested. When I gave them the item EXACTLY as requested, it was like the most imperfect thing they could have received (according to them). They were all, "It's kind of short. It's kind of wide. It's not quite the color pink we had in mind." ...and they approved the yarn prior to my knitting the item. It reminds me of my days in mental health where the only thing that prevented recovery in some clients was their fucking insane parents. They'd tell us that we were detrimental to their son's recovery because we wouldn't FORCE him into the hospital even though he wouldn't have done anything would legally allow us to do so. Then he would beat up his dad and breach his OTO so that we could revoke him and send him back in the hospital, then his parents (bruised-face dad included!) would come in and bitch us up one side and down the other for sending him back to the hospital.

Oh... That was soooooooooo off topic. Sorry.

On the other hand, baby things are super cute if for no other reason than that they are tiny!
