This is the Irish hiking scarf I just finished for my grandmother for her birthday. She's very fond of blue, and really liked the colour. The yarn was Paton's classic merino.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments - this was my first attempt at knitting cables, so I thought I should pick something fairly simple. For some reason, I've become somewhat hooked on Paton's yarns. They have some colours now that I never remember seeing when I was a kid. I think I might knit this scarf in the Paton's variegated yarn called 'Forest' for myself - probably knitting it a bit longer.
Ron, we still don't have snow, but you know it's just around the corner...I hear they received several centimetres of it up in the Georgian Bay area today. I'm hoping that Santa brings me a pair of those high-tech snowshoes they have now. It isn't even Halloween yet, and I'm already thinking about Christmas...
If you got the snow that we got in London, your grandmother will be using that scarf today. It is beautiful and the colour is right on. Great knitting.
oh I have to knit this scarf sometime, I love doing cables and ummm I don't have enough scarfs, even though I don't wear ANY of them ever. LOL
it's beautiful and the color is great.
