Knitting for myself

Darrel's picture

I bought some new yarn tonight with the intent to make something for myself. It's San Mateo from Needful Yarns in color 4179. It's a mixture of black, brown, and cobalt hues... really fuzzy and soooo soft! I've never worked with yarn like this before and it's very, very difficult to see the stitches - so much so, that I've stopped caring whether my rib is properly formed. Extreme knitting!

I need needles! I'm thinking of the Crystallites from Susan Bates because they're cheap and quite cute. I feel my artistic integrity is being oppressed by my lack of tools and accessories. Browsing through the bestselling knitting books at Amazon has been a lot of fun. It's great to read all of the customer reviews. As much as I'd love this set of rosewood needles and the Vogue Knitting Book, I love a trip to Mexico even more.

I spent a lot of time in Imagiknit this evening touching yarn and trying to compare between them based on their fibers and ratios in an effort to become more comfortable purchasing yarn online. Selecting the single skein I bought tonight took thirty minutes, though.

I feel like I need a dowsing rod whenever I walk into a yarn store...
