I have it in my queue to make and donate to our local hospital's cancer patients. I have several skeins of 100 Pure Wool worsted (same as malabrigo) I plan to make them with.
I made a couple of them last year - loved the pattern. And Andy, you're right, it'll be a breeze for you - I thought the pattern looked difficult, but it really wasn't (it was just the fact that I'd never followed a chart previously.
I used a DPN in place of a cable needle, but I read the pattern works well without either (just using the drop the stitch/pick-up the stitch method, which scares me too much to try....)
