Traditional Knitting - Book

kiwiknitter's picture

"Traditional Knitting - Patterns of Ireland, Scotland and England" by Gwyn Morgan; St Martins Press; 1981. It is hardcover with 112 pages and some colour photos. It is out of print.

This is a great reference book for those who are interested in Fair Isle and gansey knitting. There are 13 guernsey patterns, 6 aran patterns and 13 colour knitting patterns. There are patterns for children and adults, for jumpers, waistcoats, cardies and gloves. Each pattern has a B&W photo and instructions; some have charts as well.

I didn't pay much for this book and there are 2 garments I want to knit from it. If you can find a copy, get it for your knitting library.

The directions for the

The directions for the fingerless gloves are GREAT in this book. I found it in a mall bookstore back in the early 80's and still have my copy. I love it!
