Liam's Blanket finally finished...Woohoo!

I finally finished by grandson's blanket....before he reached puberty! I just need to weave in the ends and ship it off. I'm already starting another blanket for another new granddaughter born last month.

This was my second knitting project when I started knitting in January. I started it on 1/23 shortly after learning to purl. It gave me lots of practice. The blanket has a garter stitch border. The pattern stitch is called a hurdle stitch. It's basically 2 rows of knit followed by 2 rows of knit and purl....repeating until your brain reaches the consistency of jello.

The cast-on was 180 stitches of double strands of Red Heart baby yarn. One strand of a solid color and the other with the same solid color along with multicolor flecks of red, blue and yellow. The solid color is mint green, but the lighting makes it look more blue.

The needles used were 24" Addi circulars #6.

If it wasn't for my sidetrack ventures into hats, lacework, and socks I would have had this done a long time ago.

A beautiful blanket and how lucky you are. My favourite type of knitting is useful gifts. Hats, mittens, and sweaters for Canadian relatives. I am sure your grandson will treasure the blanket as will his parents.
