I received my order of Sapphire Heather Wool of the Andes from Knit Picks. I'm starting a sweater using it.
I'm knitting it top down in the round using the percentage method and without following any special pattern.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Wish me luck

Knitting sweaters is just
Knitting sweaters is just get - and the reason why I took knitting up again since my great grandmother showed me when I was a kid. I haven't tried a top-down design myself, so don't have any pithy advice, but from your post it sounds like you have already given it plenty of careful thought. Look forward to seeing a pic posted in the future. Best of luck with it.

Thanks. I decided on top
Thanks. I decided on top down to make it easier to try it on as I go. I have a pretty thick neck and wide shoulders so I'm sure I'll have to make some adjustments to the percentages as I work. I have the neck band finished and am already wondering if it isn't too small. I know these things always look smaller than they are while on the needle, but I intend to check it for fit today before I get too far along.
I realized last night that I somehow managed to leave one of my sets of size 10 Options in my truck, which I am going to need for this at some point today, so am on hold until I get back out to the truck to get them. I'll be using the 2 circs technique for the increases until it gets large enough to fit all the way around on one circ.

I am sure yuou can do it
I am sure yuou can do it too. It is my favourite pattern. When I cast on for the neck I knit back and forth for a bit before casting on the stitches for the front so that it will be lower. About 2 to 3 inches. And don't be afraid to take it off the needle to see if it fits. Good luck.
Interesting, I'll have to
Interesting, I'll have to try that on the next one. Thanks.
