Patagonian hat pattern?

Hi, guys,

Thinking about making a hood or hat in the Patagonian style. (Sorry, best words for what I have in mind.) Just a close-fitting hood with long strings that tie under the chin. Anyone have a pattern? I haven't been able to find one on the net and not sure where to start with the design. Any ideas? Anyone?

Have fun,

This is a .pdf version of an Interweave Knits article from a few years ago that has various designs:

And this is a pattern adapted from another Peruvian hat design (no earflaps) that's really neat (It could probably be adapted with ear flaps):

My partner also has a copy of "Andean Folk Knitting" which has a few patterns and lots of photos of different styles and designs. I think it's kind of hard to come by, as it's out of print, but if you want to sort out a pattern of your own or are interested in traditional patterning, then it might be a resource worth looking for.
