I just signed up and bought the Men Who Knit project & messenger bags. I'm excited so many men are outspoken and unabashed knitters. I'm a student at a private college, and it never ceases to amaze passers-by that I'm knitting. I even knit during lectures, since this is a small, private university; no professor has ever taken offense.
I've only been learning for the past couple of months, but my curve is quite steep, as I'm a dedicated artisan. To me, knitting is a form of creative and useful employment which occupies hands that may otherwise be idle. I learned to crochet at an early age, but I now prefer the look and feel of knit garments. Also, I feel that knitting suits my slightly over-analytical and perfectionistic tendencies. Indeed, I even believe that it has quieted many of my repetitive thought processes and directed that slightly obsessive-compulsive part of my mind toward a beneficial end.
