Gents,
I read a posting last night from Scottly about his Himalayan Tote Bag and his having used the recycled silk yarn. Nightmares ensued!
I am currently doing a lace shawl in the "Made In Tibet" Himalayan Wool (60%) and Recycled Silk (40%) blend from "Himalaya Yarn" out of Colchester, Vermont. It has a very "homespun" look to it... weight ranging from DK to cobweb (frightening that it might break!!)
Have any of you used this yarn before? WILL IT BLOCK??
Between dreams of what ingredient was missing in a rice salad I was trying to create... I had images of frogging this shawl because the yarn wouldn't block. Scary.
Any thoughts??
Bill

Just an update on this yarn
Just an update on this yarn that I tried using. It was HORRIBLE. There were 8 knots in one hank alone. The wool was in such poor condition that the yarn BROKE! I ended up taking it all back to the store where I bought it and the owner gave me a full refund. I hated to do it as I love supporting my LYS, but this was completely unworkable.
It will block. Will it open
It will block. Will it open up as much as pure wool? no.

Honestly... it was a DREAM!
Honestly... it was a DREAM! I wasn't really making a rice salad! However, I do recall that the missing ingredient was lemon zest, if that helps!
