No one ever knits for me. While that doesn't stop me from knitting for myself, I think it would be great to share with admirers that someone else made a scarf for me.
I also think it would be great to not have to make any choices. Just letting someone else take complete creative control.

Sounds like fun. New to MWK and sort of new to knitting, but I think that it would be sort of fun to do. Also, how does it actually work? Meaning do you put an experienced knitter with another experienced knitter? I would say that I am an intermediate knitter. And scarves are all I make. LOL I think that I have "ADD" with other projects. Scarves are pretty easy to knit up and it's on the next project!

I voted yes, because I think it's a brill idea and I can never have enough scarves. This having been said, it's very unlikely I'll be participating if this happens in the next few months. I daren't show the sad things I'm knitting to anyone who knows what they're doing.

I guess I could cross-stitch a lovely IOU for a scarf exchange, and replace it with a scarf when I thought I could make something suitable.

I'm definitely in, my last exchange was quilt blocks... ended up making a raffle quilt for the church I was attending... This would be much more fun because I would absolutely keep the scarf and wear it and maybe not wear much else ;-) However, it seems that we already have one scarf whore so I will keep my naughty scarf thoughts to myself. Now to find a really sexy yarn to work with... oooooh baby!

This is a great idea. When I was big into Craftster, there were loads of craft swaps and it was always a good time to be had by all. I don't know whether or not I would participate only because I am limited in technique and Knit in slooowww-mo. If I feel it is realistic for me to do, and that I could conceivably get things together in the time limit I would be game for it.

Sounds like fun, given enough advance notice. I've got several projects waiting to be started or maybe it could be moved up on the list. I've never hand knitted a scarf so I'm not sure how long it would take. Lets see... I have to decide on just the right pattern, then I need to go shopping for just the right yarn, then I have to explain to Dennis why I'm buying more yarn since I've been on a yarn buying spree the last couple of weeks since I won $630 at the casino after betting only $3. Is that a run on sentence or what? I'm a nervous wreck!!!

The diamond stitch scarf I
The diamond stitch scarf I made for myself was kind of time consuming (for me). I don't even remember how long it took but it was more than an month. I think it was done on size 3 needles. But the end result was worth it. The "My So Called Scarf" from the knit-along went much quicker, of course.
We potters do mug exchanges
We potters do mug exchanges similar to this. At the big annual ceramics conference, NCECA, members of the Clayart Listserve who attend exchange mugs, then, for those of us who can't make it, there's the NCECA Stay At Home Mug Exchange. Fun!

In thoery I love the idea - in reality - I don't wear scarves - and my Identical Twin cousin from 1842 who does wear scarves already has three.
Add in the fact that I'm already so far behind (I finished my 2006 christmas knitting in January '08) that I wouldn't do a swap justice.
But I'd love reading about it all!

Last year, our fiber guild
Last year, our fiber guild did a scarf exchange, and was a lot of fun. I think it's a great idea . . . count me in, if it develops.

Okay, so hear's what I'm
Okay, so hear's what I'm thinking. We knit for each other! I just joined the International Scarf Exchange 6 and thought MWK would be a great forum for an exchange. I'd be willing to serve as host if there is interest. I've set up this poll up for 4 weeks to float the idea.
THIS IS NOT A REGISTRATION POLL! :-)
This is simply to see if there is interest. I'll get to registration later if enough people want to do this.
How it works is that you you register with a simple questionaire including likes/dislike for fibre/color/style/etc. (I'll also include allergies to pets, etc since they tend to participate with fiber "donations"!). Then, you're matched up with another participant and you knit for him! I'll set schedule's etc later on.
What do y'all think?
