blocking
I have never blocked anything and am not sure exactly how it is done. Do you stretch the project to the gauge or just press it flat ? Can anyone advise ? Thanks.

Well - it does depend on what the project is, and what are you trying to do with it? sometimes you are just washing and drying flat - basically just evening out stitches. Othertimes you may need to stretch or scrunch a bit for proper gague - or if it is lace you may neeed to STRETCH IT O*U*T.

AFAIK, you block things to the size you want them to be. All I've ever done is block sweaters, and that's about pinning the sweater to some flat surface so that sweater has the dimensions you want when you're done.
